Eligibility

The age limit was 21 to 35 years.
- SC, ST and PH candidates received 5 years of age relaxation.

Paper I
You needed Senior Secondary or an equivalent qualification with the required marks and a recognised teacher training qualification.
- Unreserved candidates needed at least 50% marks.
- SC, ST, OBC (Central) and OBC (State) candidates needed at least 45% marks.
- You also needed a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education, a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education, or a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).
Paper II
You could qualify through a degree or Senior Secondary qualification with the required marks and teacher training.
- With a B.A. or B.Sc. degree, unreserved candidates needed 50% marks and reserved categories needed 45% marks.
- This route also required a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education or a 2-year Bachelor in Education.
- Another route required Senior Secondary with 50% marks for unreserved candidates or 45% for reserved categories.
- This route also required a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education, 4-year B.A./B.Sc. Ed, or B.A.Ed/B.Sc. Ed programme.
