How to Apply

  1. Apply online using the Commission's website upsconline.nic.in
  2. Read the General Instructions, Module-wise instructions, and document upload instructions before you start the form.
  3. Create an account and complete Universal Registration to get a Universal Registration Number (URN).
  4. Fill the Common Application Form (CAF). Upload a live-captured photo and a scanned signature, signed three times on plain white paper in black ink.
  5. Fill the fourth, post-specific module for the post you are applying for.
  6. Upload the supporting documents in PDF for every claim you make, such as date of birth, category, and qualification.
  7. Pay the application fee online, unless you are exempted.
  8. Submit your Online Recruitment Application before the closing date and time.
  9. Take a printout of your submitted application for your own record.

  • Matriculation/10th Standard certificate or mark sheet showing your Date of Birth
  • Degree/Diploma certificate as proof of your educational qualification, or a provisional certificate with mark sheets if the final certificate is not ready

  • Experience certificate(s) in the prescribed format, showing duration, pay, and nature of duties
  • Caste certificate (SC/ST/OBC) in the prescribed format from a competent authority
  • OBC non-creamy layer declaration, if you are an OBC candidate
  • Certificate of Disability from a Medical Board, if you are a PwBD candidate
  • Documents for change of name, such as marriage certificate or gazette notification, if applicable
  • Certificate for age relaxation, such as for Ex-servicemen or Government employees, if applicable
  • Declaration by serving Government employees that they have informed their Head of Office/Department
  • Certificates for claims like Professional Registration, Language, Publications, NET, GATE, Conference, or Internship
  • Any other document that supports a claim you made
  • Attested translation by a Gazetted Officer or Notary, if any certificate is not in Hindi or English
  • Valid Domicile Certificate from Tehsildar, only for the Ladakh post
  • Printout of your online application with original documents, to bring to the interview

Important Instructions to Remember

  • You cannot withdraw your application after you submit it, and no field can be corrected afterwards.
  • Fill a correct and active e-mail address. UPSC will contact you only through e-mail.
  • The Rs. 25 fee is not refundable once paid.
